The main idea for the design development of Ingle Hall Dormitories Extension was based on the primal idea of home making. The archetypical shape of home and its representation in kids’ drawings, was chosen as the starting point of our design concept. The extension lands on top of the existing building’s roof system and gets integrated by filling the gaps. The blue color, on the other hand comes to distinguish the new built from the existing and to freshen up the facades. The new volumes play with the ideas of orientation, framed views, and inside outside spaces. The total area of 1000 m2 is divided into two buildings, which are placed on the two edges of the existing building framing it and highlighting its borders. This extension will create enough space to fit twenty five new rooms, auxiliary and communal spaces that will improve the everyday life of Anatolia students.
